GHPS triumphs

NEW DELHI: Guru Harkrishan PS, Punjabi Bagh defeated Union Academy School 2-1 to win the title in the third D.P. Joshi memorial hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Monday. Sajjan Singh scored twice for GHPS while Mayank Kumar reduced the margin for the loser.

Pramod Kumar of GHPS was adjudged the `player of the tournament' while other individual honours went to Somveer Singh of Ganga International School (best midfielder), Jai Bhagwan of Govt School, Gurgaon (best defender) and Shivam Tripathi of Union Academy (best goalkeeper).

Former international Ashok Kumar gave away the prizes.
