CHENNAI: `AutoTech'06,' an international conference on information technology for excellence in automotive manufacturing will be held here on September 12 and 13. The Confederation of Indian Industry, together with Hewlett-Packard (HP), will organise the conference, which will focus on the best global practices and how to adopt them through IT tools. It will lay stress on issues concerning automation for the small and medium enterprises. Briefing presspersons here on Tuesday, N. Mohanakrishnan, AutoTech '06 chairman and executive director (internal audit), Ashok Leyland Limited, said it was going to be the first such programme of its kind involving the automobile and IT industries. Some of the topics to be deliberated included `warranty management solutions and service parts management for automotive industry' and `how to leverage technology in automobile industry.'
