CHENNAI: The movie `Thalaimagan' is special for Sarath Kumar. It will be his 100th film, and Sarath is directing the movie planned for release on Deepavali day.

He plays an investigative journalist `Dheeran' in the movie. A significant role when you consider the fact that Sarath was a journalist before he entered filmdom.

With `Thalaimagan', produced by Radaan Media Works, Sarath's career comes a full circle. He started off as a producer, played the villain and later evolved into a hero. With this movie he turns director. The film's first schedule took care of the climax, a difficult part of the shoot that took eight days of continuous work involving 850 artists. Nayantharaplays the heroine. Seema Biswas (of `Bandit Queen' fame) plays a police officer. Vali and Vairamuthu have penned some memorable lyrics for the film.
