Fernande Marie passes away

VISAKHAPATNAM: Fernande Marie, founder of Home Science Department in St. Joseph's College for Women, was laid to eternal rest here on Thursday.

The octogenarian social worker from Switzerland was the pioneer to implement home science programme throughout Andhra Pradesh. Sister Marie was also the first head of the department at the college. A committed teacher, she had served the college for over three decades. Known to be a highly religious and humble person, she served the poor with compassion. The funeral was held at St. Joseph's Church in Gnanapuram on Thursday.
