Sri Lankan connection being probed

CHENNAI: The police are probing whether the person arrested in the bomb hoax case has any Sri Lankan connection.

Informed sources told The Hindu here on Thursday that R Perinbaraj hailing from the Nilgiris district joined the private jewellery shop in the city only 45 days ago.

Investigators are intrigued as Perinbaraj gave a Sri Lankan refugee camp as his residential address. A detailed probe is on to find out the youth's antecedents.

A top officer in the State Police department said, "In view of the threats coming from various outfits, we have been taking the alerts seriously.
