BANGALORE: The police on Wednesday night raided a live-band joint at Tataguni village on Kanakapura Road in Bangalore Rural district and arrested 16 people, including 14 women. The police said the live-band show was being held in violation of rules at a farmhouse in a secluded area. The police seized several liquor bottles, a television set and Rs. 2,000 in cash from the joint. The Thalaghatapura police have registered a case.
House burgled
Thieves broke into a house in 4th Block, Koramangala, on Wednesday and made away with gold ornaments and electronic goods, estimated at Rs. 3 lakh. The police said the thieves had entered Prema's house by breaking open the main door when she had been to work. The incident took place between 9 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. The Koramangala police have registered a case.
Attacked
Boarders of a private college hostel assaulted an elderly woman and ransacked her house at Agara in Koramangala police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said a group of students, who were standing near a petty shop on Dr. Rajkumar Road in Agara, were making lewd comments at some girls. When the shopkeeper Pillappa admonished them, they assaulted him. Mr. Pillappa's relative Suresh, who learnt of the incident, assaulted a few students in retaliation. Later, around 25 students went to Mr. Suresh's house, assaulted his mother and ransacked his house. Mr. Suresh, a milkman, was away when the incident occurred, the police said. The Koramangala police have registered a case of rioting.

Sabina Taj (25) allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her house in Padarayanapura on Wednesday.
Woman cheated
A youth cheated an elderly woman of her gold "mangalasutra" chain, estimated at Rs. 8,000, in Girinagar police station limits on Thursday afternoon. The police said that around 12.30 p.m., a youth, clad in white dhoti and shirt, accosted Lakshmi Devi (80) on 12th Cross, 9th Main, Girinagar. He introduced himself as her distant relative and told her that he would immediately get her a loan of Rs. 20,000 from a bank. He took her near the BDA Park in Avalahalalli and made Lakshmi Devi remove her "mangalasutra" chain. He told the illiterate woman that the bank manager would not sanction the loan if she was wearing the chain. After taking her chain, the youth told her that he would buy some stamps and come back. But he did not return, the police said.
Stabbed
Two men stabbed a woman in her hand and tried to snatch her bag in Koramangala police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said that around 8.30 p.m., Mythri Roy, who works in private company on Mahatma Gandhi Road, alighted an autorickshaw near her house in 8th Block, Koramangala.
