BANGALORE: Justice A.C. Kabbin on Monday vacated a stay given by the court earlier on the conduct of a DNA test on a policeman of Hassan and two others. A woman from Hassan had filed a police complaint that she had a relationship with a sub-inspector (SI) after he had promised to marry her. The sub-inspector allegedly refused to marry her and when she delivered a baby girl, she lodged a complaint. A local court had ordered the sub-inspector, the woman and the child to undergo DNA test and the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police had deposited Rs. 15,000 with the DNA testing laboratory in Hyderabad. The sub-inspector had appealed against the lower court verdict and the High Court had granted an interim stay. The State Public Prosecutor (SPP), S. Dore Raju, had moved an application seeking vacation of the stay. When the matter came up, the SPP submitted that the offence was grave.
