Train detained following bomb threat

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Bangalore-Kacheguda (Hyderabad) Express, which left Bangalore City Railway Station on Monday evening, was detained near Dodballapur following a bomb threat.

However, after a thorough search for over three hours, the threat turned out to be a hoax and the train left Doddaballapur at 10.35 pm.

The City Police Control Room received a call around 7.15 p.m. that a bomb has been planted on the train. The Railway Police were immediately alerted.

Superintendent of Police (Railways) K.H. Srinivasan told The Hindu that routine checking for suspected articles, including checking by a sniffer dog squad had been conducted in the train before it left Bangalore City at 5.45 p.m. The authorities did not intend to take any chances and detained the train near Dodballapur. No suspected object was found during the check.
