BANGALORE: Thirty retired teachers of schools run by Malleswaram Ladies Association (MLA) were felicitated at a Guruvandana function organised on Sunday. The old students paid their tributes and recalled the role played by these teachers in moulding their lives.

MLA M.R. Seetaram said it was because of the dedicated efforts of teachers that the country was ranked high in the education field. The old students, IAS officer H. Shashidhar, Shakuntala Katre and Radha Murthy, also spoke.

Shashikala Devi, a felicitated teacher, thanked the Old Students' Association, which organised the function, for remembering the services of the teachers. Another teacher Padmavati Bai said that the greatest tribute for them was to see their students reach good position in the society. Many of the students had made a mark in their chosen profession, she added.

B.N. Jayaram, President of the Guruvandana Committee, said the Old Students' Association would continue to support the students of MLA schools to excel in all their endeavours.
