Kolkata: The Left parties have submitted a "comprehensive report" to the UPA Government at the Centre, Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Praksh Karat said here. The report contains "a critique and what should be done in the coming days," he said. "We expect a meeting with the UPA later in September which will give us an opportunity to hear the Government's response. Then the Left parties can decide on their future course of action," Mr. Karat said after the conclusion of the two-day Polit Bureau meeting. The Polit Bureau finalised the draft report on the organisation, a mid-term review of the work done since the 18th Party Congress in April 2005. It spells out the tasks that need to be undertaken by the party, Mr. Karat said. "The Polit Bureau held discussions on the report, which is to be placed in the forthcoming meeting of the party's central committee to be held from September 24." On the CPI (M) strategy for the Uttar Pradesh elections, he said "a decision will be taken at the Polit Bureau level in October after a meeting with the State party committee."
