ALAPPUZHA: The district health authorities have asked the public to attend medical camps being organised in the district to prevent spreading of fevers, such as chikungunya. Hundreds of patients affected by fever queued up in hospitals in the district, especially in Cherthala taluk, on Wednesday also. District Medical Officer M.K. Velayudhan said medical camps would be held at Mararikulam North and South on Thursday. The Kerala Health for All Foundation held camps at Thannermukkom, Muhamma and Thuravoor on Wednesday. Doctors of the foundation Padmakumar and Jayaram led the camps, said an official release. Alappuzha municipal chairman P.P. Chitharanjan said the municipality would hold an awareness programme on chikungunya at the Government Girls' High School in the town on September 17. Medical camps would be held at Health Centre, Mangalam, on September 18, ESI Junction on September 19, Vidya Theatre on September 20 and St. Antony's Auditorium on September 21. Doctors of the Government medical college would examine patients, Mr. Chitharanjan added.
