Derailment hits train services

BANGALORE: Operation of trains bound to and from Mysore was affected for over one-and-a-half hours at the City Railway Station early on Wednesday following derailment of two tanker wagons at the Railway Yard.

According to the spokesperson of the South Western Railway (SWR), Bangalore Division, the derailment occurred at 4.25 a.m. at the Railway Yard.

Delay

The spokesperson said that as the Mysore route was to pass through the yard, trains bound to Mysore, including Cauvery Express, Tuticorin Express, and other passenger trains got delayed.

Detained

Trains bound from Mysore towards the city were detained at stations en-route until the track was cleared, the spokesperson said.

Normal operation on the route resumed at 7.30 a.m., the spokesperson said.

Neither was there any casualty nor any injury to people because of the derailment of two tanker wagons at the Railway Yard, the spokesperson said.
