ANANTAPUR: The State Government has decided to procure paddy, maize, pulses and other minor millets in the district by opening procurement centres. Joint Collector Anita Rajendra has asked the farmers to utilise the opportunity and get minimum support price (MSP) to their produce. At a meeting held here on Saturday, the Joint Collector reviewed the arrangements being made for opening procurement centres with the officials of the departments concerned. Maize would be procured at Madakasira and Hindupur with a MSP of Rs. 540 per quintal. Similarly, pulses like red gram, green gram, black gram would be procured with Rs. 1,750 per quintal as MSP. Another maize procurement centre would be opened at Bommanahal, depending upon the demand. The Civil Supplies Corporation would procure paddy at Kanekal and Kalluru and Food Corporation of India at Jangalapalli. General variety of paddy would be given a MSP of Rs. 620 per quintal and `A' grade variety would be paid Rs. 650.
