Impersonator arrested for duping people

NEW DELHI: A young man who allegedly duped several people by posing as a Central Bureau of Investigation officer and charged them money for "getting their jobs done", has been arrested by the North-West Delhi police.According to the police, Babu Lal, a resident of Sultanpuri in North-West Delhi, had complained about the man who had charged him Rs. 2 lakhs for arranging a job for his son in Singapore.

Acting on the tip-off, a trap was laid at D-Block in Sultanpuri and the accused, later identified as Sanjeev, was arrested on Friday evening.

During interrogation, Sanjeev allegedly disclosed to the police that he had cheated several people by posing as a CBI officer or as an official of some Ministry. He would promise people that he would get job for their wards or help in resolving marital disputes.

He even promised to clear the accounts and documents of retired employees in various government offices. Depending on the nature of the job, he used to charge anywhere between a few thousand rupees and a couple of lakhs.
