`New policy should cover organic farming'

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Organic farming should be included as a key component of the Government's proposed new agricultural policy. This demand, bundled under a big list of resolutions, received unanimous support at a workshop on "Organic Farming and Mass Media," which concluded here on Saturday.

While resolving to label Organic Farming as "Jaivika Krishi" in Kannada, the participants wanted the Government to make available raw material and equipment required for organic farming locally. Seed banks at the taluk levels could be considered, suggested K. Ramakrishnappa, honorary president of the Organic Farming Society.
