New Delhi: A city court on Wednesday awarded seven years' rigorous imprisonment to three for committing robbery in a jewellery shop in East Delhi nearly eight years ago. Rejecting the mercy plea of accused Sawan Singh, Nafishul Haq and Navprabhat Sharma on the ground that they had no vicious antecedent, Additional Sessions Judge R.K. Yadav said such incidents are increasing and the same requires firm handling. He imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each and directed that Rs 50,000 from the fine amount, if deposited, be given as compensation to complainant Sheikh Kalam, whose shop was robbed.
