Mentally challenged woman raped

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A mentally and physically challenged woman was raped by a 60-year-old construction worker at her house in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Wednesday.

The police said the 22-year-old woman was alone at her house at Pattegarpalya as her parents had taken her younger sister to a doctor as she had an epilepsy attack. Around 11 a.m., Raja Shetty barged into the house and allegedly raped the lonely woman.

On hearing her screams, the neighbours came to her rescue. They assaulted Shetty and handed him over to the police. The Kamakshipalya police have registered a case.

Murder accused held

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) staff on Wednesday arrested five youths in connection with the twin murder of Thimmenahalli Suresh and Tony, who were hacked to death by an armed gang in Kengeri police station limits on September 10.

The names of the arrested were given as Manja alias Praveen (21), Anil Kumar (21), Mohan Kumar (20), Munna (21) and Thandava Murthy (21), all residents of Mallathalli.

Juveniles arrested

The Adugodi police have arrested four persons, all juveniles, on charges of robbery and recovered from them Rs. 950 in cash.

The accused waylaid lonely pedestrians and robbed them of cash and valuables at knifepoint, the police said.

One of the arrested was a 12-year-old boy, they said.
