Madurai: Host Sethu Institute of Technology won the men's and women's team championships with 139 and 137 points respectively in the three-day Anna University Zone-10 inter-engineering athletics meet, which concluded at S.I.T. ground, Kariapatti, on Saturday. T. Sivasamy of P.S.N.A. Engineering college, Dindigul, won the men's individual championship with 20.5 points, while M. Jeeva of Sethu Institute of Technology and Savithiri of RVS Engineering College, Dindigul, shared the women's individual championship with 24 points each. S.M. Seeni Mohaideen, Chief Executive Officer, SIT gave away the prizes. The results (Winners only): Men: 200m: M. Ganesh (S.I.T.) 23.0s; 1500m: D. Sivasamy (PSNA) 4:40.5s; Triple jump: A. Sankar on song
A brilliant unbeaten 73 by G. Sankar helped RVS Sports club score a 108-run victory over Sachin Cricket club in the Dindigul District Cricket Association first division league at Dindigul on Sunday. The scores (First division): RVS Sports club 221 in 35.5 overs (G. Sankar 73 n.o., G. Suresh Daniel three for 36) bt Sachin CC 113 in 29.2 overs; Jahir CC (Vedasandur) 251 in 44.2 overs (M. Thanga Paramasivam 53, P. Gopi 45, P. Rajamohan four for 37) bt Majestic CC 154 in 32.4 overs (R. Ganesh 47). Second division: All Rounders CC 110 for five in 24 over bt R.S. Kothandaraman Memorial CC 92 in 14 overs (K. Pranesh Kumar five for 16).
NEC (Kovilpatti) triumphs
National Engineering College, Kovilpatti, clinched the team title with 15 points in the Anna University Zone-10 inter-engineering chess tournament conducted by P.S.R. Engineering College, Sevilpatti, near Kovilpatti on Saturday. Arulmigu Kalasalingam College, Krishnan Kovil, (15 pts) took the second spot, while Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, (14.5 pts) finished third and Kamaraj College of Engineering, Virudhunagar, (11.5 pts) finished fourth.
Satheesh nets winner
Satheesh Rajkumar's strike helped Rockfort Sports Club, Balakrishnapuram, defeat Annai Sports Club, Mettupatti, 1-0 in the Dindigul District Football Association first division league at SDAT Stadium Dindigul on Sunday. Murugan Memorial Football Club, Paraipatti, and St. Mary's Football club played out a goalless draw. Sports Correspondent
