CBI enquiry a diversionary tactic: Naidu

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the Chief Minister had ordered a CBI inquiry into change in Outer Ring Road (ORR) alignment to buy time, dilute the issue and divert people's attention.

Addressing members of the TDP's State Committee, Mr. Naidu reiterated his demand that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhera Reddy should step down to pave the way for a fair inquiry. He said his party had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court with documentary evidence as to how those close to the Chief Minister and others in the ruling party had misused power and benefited from the land transactions along the ORR. It was not just for seeking court order on CBI inquiry but to make the Government submit to the court a detailed report on transactions in 30 days.
