Bangalore: As many as 700 neurologists will meet at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) Convention Centre and talk about the advancements in the field at the 14th annual conference of the Indian Academy of Neurology (IANCON) between October 6 and 8.

D. Nagaraja, Director and Vice-Chancellor of NIMHANS and president of the conference told presspersons here on Thursday that the conference would commemorate 50 years of the Department of Neurology at NIMHANS. One of the highlights of the conference was that a record number of 201 scientific papers would be presented on various topics, including new treatments for stroke and epilepsy, management of muscle dystrophy, senile dementia and so on. Of these, 25 per cent of the papers were being presented by faculty and postgraduate students from NIMHANS, Dr. Nagaraja, said. According to P. Satishchandra, organising secretary, the conference would flag off with a Continuing Medical Education programme on "Progress in therapeutics."
