BJP: State fails to prevent dengue

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday lashed out against the Congress Government for its `failure' to contain dengue fever that has claimed 11 lives so far.

At a press conference here, party's State president N. Indrasena Reddy said that ever since the Congress came to power, the people had suffered from all kinds of viral fevers and now `chikungunya' and dengue have resurfaced.

The BJP leader criticised the Government for failing to take preventive steps and not reacting to the crisis when it hit and started taking lives.

All-party meet sought

On the issue of GO 610, there was no go except to implement it in toto, Mr. Reddy said, adding that Government should call for an all-party meeting on GOs 548 and 549 issued recently. It was regrettable that a Government Order was not taking effect even two decades after it was issued, he said.

Mr. Reddy reiterated the party's demand that Mohammed Afzal, the accused in the bomb attack on Parliament, should be hanged.
