Traffic disrupted
Vehicular movement was affected for nearly an hour on Begur Road on Wednesday as the Dalita, Hindulidavara, Alpasankyathara Samithi (DHAS) activists staged a demonstration in front of the Bommanahalli City Municipal Corporation (CMC) office. This affected vehicular movement on Hosur Road. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Soumendu Mukherjee said the demonstration passed off peacefully and no untoward incident was reported.
Phone lines hit
The services of 700 telephone connections with levels 2244, 2245, 2653, 2654 and 2664 working in Jayanagar IV, IV T, V and IX Blocks have been interrupted due to uprooting of trees on account of heavy rains. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., said the services would be restored within a week.
Free eye camp
Narayana Netralaya in association with Rotary Club Bangalore West and Temple Trust is organising a free eye camp. Screening would be done on October 13 at Prasanna Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple premises, Mahalakshmi Layout between 9 a.m. and noon and surgery would be conducted on the next day for those who need the same. Folk song contest
