CBI sleuths trap railway official

BANGALORE: Staff of the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday caught a senior official of the South Western Railway while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000.

According to a press release from CBI, N. Srinivasa, Chief Office Superintendent, Personnel Department, Divisional Railway Manager's Office, was caught while he was accepting Rs. 5,000 as part payment of Rs. 50,000 he had demanded from a candidate to ensure that she got selected in the suitability test for the post of skilled artisan.

The candidate had sought job on compassionate grounds and the suitability test was scheduled for Tuesday.

After arresting Mr. Srinivasa, the CBI officials produced him in the XXI Additional City Sessions and Special Judge for CBI cases. The court released him on bail, the release said.
