Fake currency racket busted

ANANTAPUR: The Dharmavaram police busted a fake currency note racket on Sunday. A computer, printer, high quality paper and fake notes of Rs. 8 lakhs were seized from their possession.

According to DSP of Dharmavaram Sivaiah, three persons -- Senthil Kumar, Palaniswamy Angappal and Murugesh Saravanan -- from Salem in Tamil Nadu and G. Rushikesh Naidu of Tadipatri had taken a house on rent in Dharmavaram recently to print and circulate counterfeit currency.

They printed fake notes in the denomination of Rs. 1,000.

A silk trader of Tadipatri Masthan allegedly came in contact with the Tamil Nadu gang initially and brought them here for making easy money.

House raided

The gang had even circulated some fake notes in the town. But, the police came to know about their activities and raided the house.

The police also found soft blocks for printing notes in the denominations of Rs. 500 and Rs. 100.
