BANGALORE: A police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) died in a road accident near Kanteerava Studios on Saturday night. According to the police, Ramaiah (53), attached to the Jalahalli police station, had taken leave from Sunday in connection with his daughter's marriage on November 1, and was returning home after duty. He hit a speed hump near the Outer Ring Road, lost balance and fell from his motorcycle. Ramaiah, who suffered severe head injuries, was taken to NIMHANS where he was declared brought dead.
Guard killed
A security guard on duty at an engineering factory died on the spot when the gate of the neighbouring factory fell on him in Rajagopala Nagar police station limits on Saturday night. The police gave the name of the victim as H. Nagaraj (38), a resident of Nelagadaranahalli and native of Uragalli in Ramanagara taluk. He was employed by Wisdom Security Services and was deployed for duty at M/s Satish Engineering at Peenya Industrial Estate II Stage. The police said the workers had cut open the beams of the main gate of M/s SN Engineering for movement of machinery. After completing the exercise, the workers tried to close the gate without realising that it had no support and the gate fell on Nagaraj. The police have registered a case of negligence against the owner of SN Engineering Mahadev and others.
