MUMBAI: The rupee rose sharply against the U.S. currency and closed at a five-month high of 45.2750/2850 a dollar on Tuesday on increased inflow of foreign funds into the stock markets. In active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit resumed firm at 45.39/41 against Monday's close of 45.4350/4450 and rallied further to close at 45.2750/2850, a level not seen after May 17 when the Indian unit closed at 45.19/20.
