Work from home, part-time

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: There is a whole generation of women who quit working when they started a family. Most of them belong to the upper middle-class families and are well qualified and with some years of work experience. Some were even well on their way up the corporate ladder.

The Residents Association of Sanjaynagar has put together a set of tips and guidelines for such women who would want to start working again. Perhaps because their children are in school and they have free hours each day. And because they want to again use their job skills.

Of course, all women who want a part-time career do not want to brave rush hour traffic and erratic working hours, but want to choose their own pace. The Internet has become a great liberator here apart from being an intrinsic part of many of our lives. For women who would rather work out of their home, the Internet offers plenty of choice, depending on their qualification and prior work experience and, of course, aptitude.

Business process outsourcing firms are hiring in a large way, and if women brining up families feel those long night shifts in call centres are not for them; there are other options available to them. There are other BPO firms that offer content writing jobs. Every website needs content to make it stand out, and for women with good writing and communication skills, they may be the right choice. Online teaching is another option, especially for those with an academic background or higher qualification.
