Three die as lorry hits MUV

BANGALORE: Three persons were killed and seven others injured after a sand-laden lorry hit the multi-utility vehicle (MUV) by which they were travelling on Kanakapura Road on Wednesday morning.

The occupants of the multi-utility vehicle were on their way to Kanakapura to participate in the cremation of a four-month-old baby that died of heart ailment, the police said.

Around 7.30 a.m., the sand-laden lorry, which was coming to Bangalore, rammed the multi-utility vehicle on Kanakapura Road in Thalaghatapura police station limits in Bangalore Rural district.

The police gave the names of the dead as Krishna (24), driver Yatish (25) and Venkataramana (55), all residents of Kanakapura.

The injured have been hospitalised and are out of danger.

The vehicle by which the body was being taken to Kanakapura was ahead of the multi-utility vehicle, the police said.

The Thalaghatapura police have registered a case.
