BANGALORE: A man with criminal antecedents, Ilangovan (26), was murdered at a gymnasium in Peenya police station limits on Tuesday night. The police said that around 9.30 p.m., Ilangovan and his accomplices, who were drunk, went to a gymnasium at Havanur Layout on Hesarghatta Road. They allegedly threatened the proprietor of the gymnasium, Sandeep Singh, and asked him to pay "hafta." Following an argument, Ilangovan reportedly stabbed Sandeep in the chest with a knife. In retaliation, Sandeep allegedly hit Ilangovan on the head with a dumbbell causing a severe injury, the police said.
