Bangalore: Peter Fernandes (36), a painter, was murdered allegedly by his friend Loki on Saturday. According to the police, Fernandes was a native of Sagar taluk in Shimoga district and had been working in the city for the past 20 years. It is said that Loki and Fernandes slept in a tent shop on Saturday night at Manjunathnagar and the next morning Fernandes was found murdered. He allegedly had Rs. 14,000 on him. The police suspect that Loki murdered Fernandes for the money. They are on the lookout Loki. A case has been registered.
Arrested
The Central Crime Branch police arrested a man for making and accepting bets during the New Zealand and Sri Lanka one-day cricket match on Friday. The arrested man identified as Raju K. Wadwa (43) was running the racket from a house in Kamakshipalya police station limits. The police recovered Rs. 3,140 and electronic equipment worth Rs. 25,000 from the arrested person. The police are on the lookout for his accomplices, Basant, Amrut, Praveen, Riyaaz, Rajesh, Masood, Satish and Kiran.
Recovered
One person was arrested on charges of making fake stickers, labels and monograms of a renowned two-wheeler company. The Basavanagudi police, who made the arrest, gave the name of the accused as Mukesh Doshi (32). The police said the accused used to manufacture duplicate spare parts also. The police recovered such spare parts worth Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 24,250 in cash and jewellery from him. Doshi has a spare parts shop in Journalists' Colony. Doshi's accomplice, Ramesh, is absconding, police said.
Held on theft charge
The Banashankari police arrested a 21-year-old man identified as Shiv on charges of theft. He used work as a domestic help. Shiv allegedly stole cash and jewellery worth Rs. 1.25 lakh from his employer. The police have recovered the stolen jewellery and cash from the accused.
