Rain brings relief to Nellore

NELLORE: After a long, hot and humid spell, Nellore district experienced welcome showers on Wednesday bringing down the temperature by several degrees.

Dark clouds that had been gathering since Tuesday morning finally burst open and the district lapped it up despite minor hassles.

The rain that started lashing from morning caused water-logging at many places in Nellore and in some areas, it has even led to traffic snarls.

It may be recalled that the district had experienced almost nil rainfall for the last two months and in particular in the last 15 days though it was monsoon season. While delayed rain had left the farmers of Nellore district worried, Wednesday's showers revived their hopes.

And these showers might continue with the Meteorological office predicting more rainfall in the next 24 hours. This means, rains could sustain agricultural production particularly in upland areas.
