ANANTAPUR: Gastroenteritis claimed one life and six persons with symptoms of the disease were hospitalised in Devarapalli village of Hindupur rural mandal in the district in the last four days. According to information one B. Rajappa (27) was hospitalised for treatment of gastroenteritis, but died after returning home on Sunday. Six more villagers were admitted to the district coordinator's hospital at Hindupur after they suffered symptoms of the disease. The outbreak has been blamed on poor sanitation caused by the pipeline of a drinking water scheme leaking at several points and overhead tank not being cleaned. The villagers alleged that no health staff had visited the village in spite of the problem.
