HYDERABAD: Major Irrigation Minister P. Lakshmaiah on Wednesday announced that the World Bank had given its nod for aid of Rs. 3,200 crores to modernise Nagarjunasagar canals and take up a project to construct several minor dams at a time. He said Rs. 2,200 crores of this would be earmarked for modernisation of Nagarjunasagar canals and Rs. 1,000 crores for minor dams. He said the bank did not attach any conditionalities. He said the World Bank officials led by its Managing Director, Graeme Wheeler, visited several irrigation projects under construction.
