Patel memorial lecture on AIR

CHENNAI: In commemoration of the 130th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country's first Information and Broadcasting and Home Minister, All-India Radio will broadcast a lecture by N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu .

The lecture on "Media and Society in India: Freedom, Roles and Responsibilities," delivered by Mr. Ram on Saturday, will be broadcast on October 31 in the national network.

All India Radio Director General Brijeshwar Singh, in the welcome address, said a galaxy of leaders, scientists and historians had delivered the lecture in the past. This included C. Rajagopalachari, Zakir Hussain, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, M.S. Swaminathan and Montek Singh Ahluwalia. The lectures, he said, had become a repository of valuable knowledge for those seeking to understand India.
