Government staff frown on circular

BANGALORE: The Akhila Karnataka State Government Employees' Federation has reacted sharply to the circular issued by the State Government that its employees will face dire consequences if they take part in any strike against the interests of the Government. The federation has demanded that the Government withdraw the circular, which was issued on Thursday.

In a release here on Saturday, president of the federation U.D. Narasimhaiah said that the government employees had to resort to strike when their demands were not met. Strikes and agitation by government employees had proved successful even after the Supreme Court ruled that government employees had no right to strike. Many countries in the West had extended the right to strike to government servants in keeping with the International Labour Organisation's directives.
