Government to allot grant to industrial estates

SHIMOGA: Minister for Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu said here on Saturday said the Government would sanction the one time grant for the upgradation of all the industrial estates in Shimoga district.

He was speaking at a function organised by the Shimoga District Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He said the Government had earmarked Rs.100 crore for the upgradation of industrial estates in the State which covered the improvement of the infrastructure such as roads, streetlights and water supply. Mr. Naidu promised that the Government would release the grant as a package for the upgradation of all the industrial estates in the district if the project report was submitted.

He said the Government had decided to extend industrial facilities to the district in view of the interest shown by leading industrialists to set up their units. He said the surcharge on the industrial centres would be reduced from 0.5 per cent to 0.1 per cent.

Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said the coalition Government had decided to take up the all round development of each taluk and district to make Karnataka a model State.

Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy addressed the gathering.

President of the Shimoga Chamber of Commerce and Industry S.Rudre Gowda presided over the function.

An exhibition of the industrial products of the Shimoga district was arranged on the occasion.
