SHIMOGA: Girish Patel was unanimously elected president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district unit here on Sunday. Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa who was present at the meeting of the party workers held at the Lagan Mandir asked them to take welfare measures of the Government to the doorstep of the beneficiaries. He emphasised the need for strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party at all levels. Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy who felicitated Mr. Patel hoped that the party would growth in strength under his leadership. Others who spoke included the party's MLA from Tirthahalli Araga Jnanendra and party's MLA from Chikmagalur C.T. Ravi, the outgoing district president of the party M.B. Bhanu Prakash and the former MLC Shantaveer Gowda. Mr. Patel said that he would dedicate himself for the growth of the party.
