Learning to nurture nature

Projects on bio-diversity were on display at Jubilee Hills Public School


HYDERABAD: The 14th National Children's Science Congress hosted by Jubilee Hills Public School with `Bio-diversity- Nurture Nature for Future' evoked good response here.

Students from about 25 schools presented science projects with `Terrestrial bio-diversity', aquatic bio-diversity, bio-diversity in man-made systems, conservation practices, value addition to bio-diversity, simulation/modelling and knowledge generation. Deputy Education Officer Vishweswara Rao who initiated the programme at the district level inaugurated the Science Congress. Projects were prepared on the basis of given theme.

Some of the projects presented by the students were ` Nurturing Flora for Nature', `The little terrorists- Mosquito menace' and `Vermi-composting'. The students were awarded prizes on the basis of selection, presentation, data collection and analysis. The best exhibits would be displayed at the State and national level.

Competitions

Various competitions were organised for students of Sister Nivedita School to mark the birthday celebrations of sister Nivedita on Saturday. Competitions in poetry recitation for students of classes I to V, essay writing for classes VI and VII and elocution for students of classes VIII to X were conducted on the theme `Prevalence of culture and tradition in India'.

Chairman of Sister Nivedita Group of Institutions released the second issue of School's News Bulletin for 2006-07 and called upon the students to emulate the ideals of eminent personalities.

Investiture ceremony

Nandini High School conducted the investiture ceremony recently to administer oath to the newly elected school cabinet. Principal of Arts College, Osmania University, Vishweshwara Rao who was the chief guest exhorted the students to set goals and strive to achieve them.

He later presented badges to the school leader Monika Jain, secretary Jawaria yaseen, sports secretary Azim, cultural secretary Pooja Gujjar and social secretary Zainab.
