BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday admitted a public interest litigation petition from Sashikala and other residents against the alleged failure of the civic authorities in clearing solid waste and garbage in Shimoga city. The petitioners said garbage and debris had been gathering for a long time and were being dumped on the roadsides. They urged the court to direct the authorities to clean up the city. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice Mohan Shantanagouder admitted the petition and ordered issue of notices to the State and other respondents.
