CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nadaka Mandram has announced the names of the young artists who have been selected to give performances at various places in Tamil Nadu. Poet Ilayabharathi, member-Secretary announced the names of the artists here on Tuesday. The Mandram annually selects young artists to perform various forms of arts, which includes vocal, harikatha, Nagaswaram, Veena, flute, Jalatharangam, Violin, Mridangam, Kanjira, Ghatam, Mohorsing and Konnakol. The artists who are selected this year include: Vocal: P.Suchitra, A.Rohit, R.Ragavendra, M.Ragini Shree, Shradda Mohan, Gna. Karpagam, all from Chennai and Mo.Chamundaswari from Kakithapuram, Karur district.
Mridangam: D.Srikanth, V.Prasanth, Mayavaram Su.Siva, Era.Saran, R.Aravind all from Chennai and M.Lakshmanan from Virudunagar. Ghatam: G.Chandrasekar Sarma from Chennai and S.Krishnasamy from Thiruverumboor, Tiruchi. Nagaswaram: G.Prakash from Orikkai, K.Varadan from Uthirameroor, M.Sundari and M.Savithri from Chidambaram, K.Srinivasan and K.Shanmuganathan from Kumbakonam, R.Sakthi Saravanan from Pollachi and S.Ramachandran from Kattuputhoor. The Mandram has also sanctioned Rs.6000 each to the families of the deceased artists.
