Three women robbed of gold

BANGALORE: Three women were robbed of their gold chains estimated at Rs. 1 lakh in as many cases reported here on Monday.

The police said that around 7 p.m., a youth snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 35,000 from Nagarathna of Hosadurga taluk in Chitradurga district while she was walking on the busy Kempe Gowda Road near Santosh cinema.

Although Nagarathna raised an alarm, the robber managed to escape, they said. The Upparpet police have registered a case.

In another incident, a man accosted Kariyamma (60) on Lakshmi Road in Shanthinagar and snatched her chain estimated at Rs. 45,000. When the robber snatched the chain, Kariyamma fell and suffered injuries, the police said.

The incident occurred about 3.45 p.m. when Kariyamma, a resident of Akkithimmanahalli. was on her way to bring her grandson home from school.

The Ashoknagar police have registered a case.

Escapes on motorcycle

In a similar incident, around 3.45 p.m., a man snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 20,000 from Meera (49) when she was walking near her house on 10th D Cross, 1st Block, Jayanagar.

After snatching the chain, he escaped on a motorcycle on which his accomplice was waiting at a distance.

Meera was on her way to a school to pick her nephew, the police said.

The Siddapura police have registered a case.
