Air surveillance to counter naxalite threats

PATNA : Massive security arrangements, including air surveillance, have been made for the by-elections to the three Lok Sabha seats of Bhagalpur and Nalanda in Bihar and Koderma in Jharkhand on Monday.

Air cover is being provided to counter the naxalite threats to disrupt polling , particularly in Koderma constituency, where police recovered posters opposing the democratic process. Bihar authorities have sealed the district borders of Nalanda and Bhagalpur. About 100 companies of the paramilitary forces have been deployed at booths considered sensitive. The Election Commission has arranged for digital photography in about 1500 booths to check bogus voting.
