CAPTAIN G.R. GOPINATH of Air Deccan has been much in the news lately and for right reasons. The budget airline has just announced Rs. 9-plus taxes offer for one lakh tickets to mark Suvarna Karnataka.

The aviation man, who strongly believes in the "anyone can fly" concept, heads the nominations for the Teacher's Achievement Awards for 2006 in the business category and it he gets it, Bangalore can feel proud. Past winners are Naina Lal Kidwai of HSBC, B.S. Nagesh of Shopper's Stop and former ONGC Chairman and Managing Director Subir Raha. The awards are to be announced on November 25.
