Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The British Council is organising the Education UK exhibition in Kochi on November 13 and 14 at the Avenue Centre, Panampilly Nagar. Several institutions from the United Kingdom will be represented at the exhibition.

The exhibition will provide an opportunity for the students to meet the UK representatives and collect relevant information. The students can attend seminars on various topics and get their doubts clarified. The event will offer insight into the admission procedure and requirements for studying in the U.K. The exhibition will cater to a range of subjects at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Options are also available for students who plan to go to the U.K. for their schooling or to pursue a diploma level course.

The exhibition is travelling to seven cities in India and will have participation of more than 100 representatives from about 80 institutions of the U.K. The venues include New Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Coimbatore. The seminars at the exhibition in the city will focus on business and management studies, post-graduate courses, IELTS and student visas.

There are more than 20,000 Indian students currently studying in the UK and this number is growing at the rate of more than 15 per cent, according to the organisers. Indian students are reportedly showing keen interest in the one year Masters and three-year undergraduate courses.

The U.K. is an attractive destination for students because the courses are shorter, according to the organisers. Students can take advantage of various schemes such as science and engineering graduate scheme and fresh talent initiative that allows them to work after they have finished their studies in the U.K.
