HYDERABAD: Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu has demanded that the State Government conduct the winter session of the Legislative Assembly as per schedule. In an informal chat with reporters here on Sunday, he found fault with the Government in its attempts to postpone the winter session in the name of byelections to Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabha seats. There were several issues including flood relief, indiscriminate permissions to SEZs at the expense of farmers and the agreements entered into with the World Bank. The Assembly was the proper forum for a debate on them, he added. "It is not appropriate on the part of the Government to postpone the session in the name of byelections when several issues are facing the people," he said. Mr. Raghavulu also found fault with the Centre for asking the States to hand over the maintenance and monitoring of power supply at feeder level to voluntary agencies, failing which they would not receive incentives.
