BELGAUM: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy presented the Rajyotsava Award to Prabhakar B. Kore, chairman, KLE Society, at his residence here on Wednesday.

Sri Siddaling Tontadarya Swami; acting Chairman of the Legislative Council Sachchidanand Khot; Minister for Horticulture and district in-charge Shashikant A. Naik; and I.M. Vittalamurthy, Secretary, departments of Kannada and Culture, Tourism and Information were present.

Mr. Kore could not attend the award presentation function in Bangalore on November 1, as he was hospitalised after being shot at. His nephew is the accused in the case.

In his brief address on the occasion, Mr. Kumaraswamy expressed shock at the attack on Mr. Kore, who is considered an "ajatashatru" (person without enemies).

He also hailed his services and contribution in the field of education and the cooperative sector. His cooperation in organising the legislature session in Belgaum in September was unforgettable, the Chief Minister said.

He said the award might not befit the contribution and services of Mr. Kore to the State, yet that was one way of recognising it. God had given him yet another life so that he could continue to serve the people and complete the unfinished agenda, Mr. Kumaraswamy said.

Award attributed

In his address, Mr. Kore attributed the award and honour to the "saptarishis" who founded the KLE Society 90 years ago, and the institution.
