A day for the aged

The district administration celebrated World Elder's Day with pomp and gaiety, here on Monday.

The Minister for Animal Husbandry, P. Geeta Jeevan, distributed marriage assistance to 91 beneficiaries to the tune of Rs 13.55 lakh, earmarked under the Moovalur Ramamritham Ammaiyar Ninavu Marriage Assistance Scheme and the Annai Theresa Ninavu Marriage Assistance Scheme to orphan girls. The Minister also gave away tricycles to four beneficiaries. The function ended with cultural programmes of the elders.
