25 members appointed for consumer forums

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Government has appointed 25 members for the District Consumer Disputes Redress Forums, whose functioning has been affected by vacancies for long. By an order issued on Monday, Members were posted for 17 forums.

Both male and female members have been appointed for the Chennai (North), Dindigul, Karur, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Sivaganga, Tiruvallur and Villupuram forums. Female members have been posted for the Chengalpattu, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri at Krishnagiri, Madurai and Vellore forums and male Members for the Nagercoil, Srivilliputhur, Thanjavur and the Nilgiris district forums.

Official sources say while the appointments are expected to bring relief to litigants, nearly 20 more posts of members are vacant.
