Woman killed in accident

BANGALORE: A 50-year-old woman, riding pillion on a motorcycle, was killed on the spot when a tanker ran over her after she fell off the vehicle, near Roopena Agrahara in Madiwala police station limits on Tuesday. According to police, Sharada Devi was going along with her husband on Hosur Road. Her husband lost his balance when the vehicle hit a stone and both fell off the vehicle. An oil tanker ran over Sharada Devi.

Knocked down

Sugana (5) was killed when he was knocked down by a car on Hebbal Ring Road on Monday night. According to police, the incident occurred when he was playing near the road. Sugana, a native of Gulbarga, was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Bag snatched

Two motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly snatched a cash bag containing Rs. 1.44 lakh from an industrialist in Wilson Garden Police Station limits on Monday afternoon.

According to police, Pankaj, who was looking after his father's component factory on Lal Bagh 4th Cross was returning from a bank when the incident occurred. Pankaj told the police that he withdrew Rs. 1.04 lakh from a bank on Mission Road.

He kept the amount in a cloth bag along with Rs. 40,000, which was in his pocket and hung the bag from the handlebar of his two-wheeler. When he came near Lal Bagh 4th Cross, the miscreants hit Pankaj's two-wheeler. They allegedly snatched the cash bag and sped away in the motorcycle after Pankaj fell down.

Police however said people in the area did not notice any scuffle or accident on inquiry. They registered a case of robbery and are investigating.
