Training scheme for unemployed youth from today

BANGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will launch the Suvarna Kayaka Shikshana Yojane on Thursday. The scheme will provide on-job training for unemployed youth and to provide placements in private and public sector.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Major and Minor Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu said the Government would enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Thursday on providing jobs to unemployed graduates. The Suvarna Kayaka Shikshana Yojane would give on-job training to unemployed youth to provide placements in private and public sector. The Government had received 45,000 applications under the scheme, Mr. Subramanya Naidu said.

The information technology and biotechnology sector had attracted the highest number of applications, and the readymade garments sector came a close second. Engineering, food processing, hotels, printing, and education were the other sectors where job prospects for unemployed youth were looking up, he said.

Mr. Subramanya Naidu said 17 citizens who contributed to the industrial sector in the State would be felicitated at a function to be held on the Palace Grounds on Thursday.
